Director of the Dayton Christian Homeschool Program

I am pleased to announce that Erin Smith has accepted the role of Director of the Dayton Christian Homeschool Program. Erin has 9 years’ experience homeschooling her 4 children from preschool through high school and 9 years’ experience in traditional school positions as a Special Education teacher and a Guidance Counselor. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Special Education from St. Cloud State University – Minnesota, and a master’s degree in School Counseling from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls.

I am very excited about the well-established academic understanding that Erin brings to this role. As a strong organizer and planner, the homeschool will benefit from that gifting as well her experience in our high school homeschool hybrid program. She already has ideas on how to strengthen the relationship between the homeschool and the high school. Most importantly, I love her heart for Christ and her desire to minister to our families. I am absolutely confident that Erin’s leadership will be a great blessing to you.

Erin, her husband David and their children, Sydney (16), Lily (14), Addie (11) and Gabe (9) moved from Minnetonka, MN to Springboro in 2008.  Sydney will begin her second year at Dayton Christian High School enrolled in the Hybrid Homeschool Program.  Lily, Addie and Gabe will attend either Dayton Christian Homeschool or the day school. They are all actively involved at Centerville Community Church, where Erin has served as the Elementary Children’s Director since 2013.

Erin is eager to partner with all homeschooling families whether they are just launching their home school, are already well established, or those preparing students for high school or post-secondary transitions. Erin’s desire is to support families through the unique program Dayton Christian Homeschool offers by providing individualized and flexible educational options, professional resources and a supportive community.

A favorite verse is Philippians 4:4-7, “Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again: REJOICE! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.  Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Associate Director of the Dayton Christian Homeschool Program

Many of you have already had the pleasure of communicating with Krystal Cox, our new Associate Director of the Dayton Christian Homeschool Program. Krys has 9 years of homeschool experience with her two children and three years professional experience with Dayton Christian School System.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Human Services with a concentration in Marriage and Family Counseling; both from Liberty University.  She is a proven servant with a caring heart to counsel and minister to families. She brings strong organizational gifts and an understanding and true love of homeschooling.

Krys and her husband, Mark, have been married for 19 years.  They have two terrific teenagers, Mark II (Sophomore) and Miranda (Junior), who attend Dayton Christian High School.  The entire family is blessed to be in ministry together at Real Life Church in Dayton.  Mark is senior pastor at Real Life Church in Dayton and serves on the Board of Trustees with the Greater Dayton Association of Baptists.  Miranda serves as a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Praise and Worship band at church.  Mark II assists in the Children’s ministry department and also serves as an usher.

Krys said, “I am very excited for this upcoming school year at Dayton Christian Homeschool.  I have a heart for home educators and their families, and I am honored to have the opportunity to partner with them as they strive for excellence both academically and spiritually.  It is truly a blessing to be part of what God is doing in the lives of our homeschool families.”

Krys finds encouragement and peace in knowing “that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).

Our new leadership team members are eager to walk with you in your amazing journey of schooling your children at home, but not alone!
