The schedules for DC Elementary and Middle School are here!
Please keep in mind that they are subject to change the first few weeks of class due to class size and schedules.
At Dayton Christian Homeschool we know that some courses are more difficult to teach at home. Being part of the Dayton Christian School System means that your students have the opportunity to attend on-campus electives at either the Xenia Christian or Dayton Christian campus. Students in grades K-4 may choose 2 year-long electives from Art, Music, and PE. Grades 5-8 may select electives including Art, Music, Computer (Keyboarding), Foreign Language (as offered), Band, Strings (XC), and Choir.
Our goal is to schedule students to begin on-campus electives on Monday, August 18th. In order to accomplish this goal, we will need to receive your class selections by Tuesday, August 12th. We will notify you of your schedule as soon as we have confirmation from school principals.
Students attending on-campus electives are required to abide by all DCSS dress code and attendance policies. Please read the On-campus Elective Guidelines.
Class schedules will remain flexible through the first week of school due to drop/adds. Please note that your on campus commitment is school year long (semester for some Junior High courses) and being on time and regular attendance are expected.
How to make your course selection desires known to the Homeschool Office:
By Tuesday, August 12th, email your selections (requests) to email@example.com with the subject line ON-CAMPUS. In the email please include:
- Student Name
- Course and period desired
The email communication needs to include the above details to be sure that students are scheduled correctly.
***DC Specials/Electives begin on August 14th, however, teachers will be made aware that DCSS Homeschool students begin Monday, August 18th. The students will not be missing material or behind for starting the week of the 18th.
DC Homeschool strongly encourages our families to choose one “homeroom” teacher’s elective schedule. We feel that this approach will allow for stronger community and more frequent friendship building opportunities.
Here are the 2014-2015 DC Campus Schedules:
14-15 DCES ART SCHEDULE (DC Elementary Art Schedule)
14-15 DCES MUSIC SCHEDULE ***please note that music must be attended twice a week if music is selected***
14-15 DCES PE (DC Elementary Gym Schedule)
DC – 5th and 6th Grade Schedule (DC 5th and 6th grade) Please note that 5th grade electives will take place in 3rd period with the exception of a gym offering on Tuesday morning/afternoon. 6th grade will take electives in 6th period, with the exception of the gym offering Wednesday morning/afternoon. No 5th grade Art is offered on Tuesday, and no 6th grade Art is offered on Wednesday.
If you have questions about the grid, think of it this way: The electives offered for 5th grade happen during the third period, and 6th grade electives happen during 6th period. The way the grid works is that the far left column is the location, or elective subject, that is being taught and the courses listed under days are the “homerooms” that are in the elective class. For example, band is in the far left column (3rd period) and Woodwinds are listed to the right under “Monday.” That indicates that band class for woodwinds is happening Monday. The Woodwind “homeroom” then moves through the other electives the remaining days of the week. The Woodwind “homeroom” would then have Art on Wednesday, and Gym on Thursday. The schedule is a little tricky, but once you think of it as a grid it helps!
DC – 7th and 8th Grade Schedule (DC 7th and 8th grade) These specials are held during 4th and 5th period. ***If your student is in 7th and 8th grade band or choir; they are encouraged to attend class on the 14th.
If you have any questions, please email them to Krystal at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line, ON-CAMPUS QUESTIONS.
