Our Student Leadership class has been hard at work brainstorming both educational and social ‘extra’ experiences for Dayton Christian Homeschool students and families. Similar to ‘Summer Connections’, these opportunities will simply be called ‘School Year Connections’. There is a new tab at the top of the blog for “School-Year Connections.”
These extra opportunities will be organized by our Student Leadership Team and Cheryl Crane-Huth as an extension of Dayton Christian Homeschool. Thank you Cheryl & Student leadership Team! For the enjoyment and safety of all, please abide by the stated age/grade requirements and arrange other child care for your younger children.
Our first ‘School Year Connection’ will be a visit to the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus on Wednesday, November 19. We will be meeting in the Map Room for a ‘picnic style’ lunch on the benches (food is also available for purchase in the Capital Cafe) at 12:30 with our tour beginning at 1:30 and lasting 1-1 1/2 hours. Congress will be in session and, while they cannot know the exact schedule for the day, there is a good possibility of being able to sit in on the session. Also, our local representatives will be notified of our visit, so we may get to meet our leaders. Parking should be plentiful underneath the Statehouse, but it is also available in adjacent public lots near Capital Square. Due to the nature of this tour, this opportunity is only available for GRADE 3 and up. No younger siblings, please.
If you would like to attend, please do sign-up as soon as possible. Also, barring illness or emergency, we ask that you please attend if you sign-up and kindly not cancel your attendance within 24 hours of the event.
