Dear Home School Families,
We would like to let you know about a fun volunteer opportunity for young people at Carillon Historical Park in Dayton, OH. We have a group called Junior Volunteers who range from age 11 to age 15. These young volunteers dress in early 1800s costumes and work alongside staff members in our Early Settlement area of our Park. They learn skills that early settlers used for daily living. They learn old fashioned games, hearth cooking, candle dipping, butter churning, handwork, wood working, and many more activities.
We have seamstresses who can sew costumes or you can make your own. We have staff members who explain all the details of costuming. Both boys and girls are welcome. Junior Volunteers are asked to come to the Park on special event days, train run days, Home School Days, and other times when we need them. Scheduling is flexible. There is no charge to be involved except for costuming costs.
If you would like to attend a Callout Meeting, please let me know a day that is convenient for you. We will be setting up a Callout Meeting in the near future. If you have any questions, please contact me.
