About

Dayton Christian Homeschool exists to provide K-12 home school families flexibility and credibility as they educate for eternity. It is our deep desire to support your family as you educate at home, but not alone!

Dayton Christian School System Homeschool (originally called Dayton Christian Home School Satellite Program) was inaugurated in the fall of 1982 upon the request of several DCSS families. These were families who evidenced a strong desire to teach their children at home but to do so within the framework and under the authority of a Christian school. At that time the legality of home schooling had not yet been established in the state of Ohio and affiliating with an accredited private school provided the only legal means of homeschooling in many school districts.

The original school was for grades kindergarten through fourth and involved only ten students. Interest in homeschooling grew rapidly and the program expanded to meet the interest. Grades five and six were added followed by grades seven and eight. In 1994, Dayton Christian School System began to offer homeschooling through the high school years. Since that time the program has grown and changed with the needs of families and the legal requirements set before DCSS.
