So many Easter Books Left

Did you know that TOMORROW is the last EXCEL before Easter??? Really! I know! I can’t believe it either! So please, stop by tomorrow and pick up a book or two to read together over Spring and Easter break! I’d be delighted if they were gone by the end of the day!

These books are special to me. Many of them are titles I’ve collected with my own children over the past two decades because more than anything I want them to know that Jesus loves them SO MUCH that He died on the cross for them on Good Friday and ROSE AGAIN on Easter Sunday! I would love to share these stories with your family too!

Does your family use Resurrection Eggs in your Easter celebration?  Benjamin’s Box is a wonderful story written specifically to go along with those Resurrection Eggs. Benjamin is a little boy who collects all these mementos as he walks through the events of Passion Week. You’ll love it!

So please! Stop by tomorrow and check out some wonderful Easter resources!

Spring Resources

Hello families!

The sun is shining, the snow is melting, and Homeschool kids are outside playing in the mud! That must mean that spring is almost here and because we all know how much Homeschool moms need to plan ahead, I have gone ahead and put our spring and Easter collection on display in the Homeschool Library! We have a number of wonderful, Christ-Centered books and resources to help your family focus on our RISEN SAVIOR this time of year!

As a reminder, although the DC school building remains closed to visitors, you may make an appointment with Jennifer to come in and use the library during open hours, or you may sign in with Miranda on EXCEL mornings and come on up. If you see a photo of something you’d like to check out, please let me know and I will send it home with your student after EXCEL (March 5), or arrangements can be made to bring it to your vehicle if you prefer curbside pickup!

Homeschool library hours are:

  • 1:00 – 3:00 Monday and Thursday afternoons
  • 9:30 – 3:00 EXCEL Fridays

Please contact me at: jdreier@daytonchristian.com to make an appointment or request books.

Here Comes Easter!

Sunday’s Coming! Easter Sunday that is!!!

Are you looking for a fun and easy way to prepare your family’s hearts to worship our risen Savior this Easter? How about an engaging story about a little boy who finds himself on a series of adventures where he meets a man named Jesus? Amon, a young Jewish boy, encounters the jubilant crowds on Palm Sunday, is present during the betrayal of Judas Iscariot, and witnesses the ultimate sacrifice made on Good Friday.

This captivating story with 28 read aloud chapters and short devotionals will help make the celebration of Easter a meaningful season of worship and reflection for the whole family.

We currently have 2 copies in the Homeschool Library. I would recommend checking them out soon in order to end the story around the time we’ll celebrate Easter this year.

Let me know if you’d like a copy and I can send it home with your student on Friday (2/26/21) after EXCEL, or stop by the Library to check it out yourself!

Find more information HERE

Also, look for our Easter collection to be on display next week! We have lots of wonderful Christ centered books for your family to enjoy!

Free Resource!

Would you like a FREE dictionary or thesaurus to add to your collection of teaching materials?
If so, contact the Homeschool Office for a FREE, paper or hardback copy!

Why would I need a physical copy of a dictionary when I could look it up online?
According to Scholastic.com, there are many benefits for students using a print dictionary. Print dictionaries encourage learning, and give’s students a chance to “exercise” their brains. Not to mention that students may be more focused with a print dictionary that fuels curiosity!
For more information on the importance of print dictionaries, click here.

The Holidays Are Here

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas!

I know that it seems early, but I think many of us feel like we are ready to celebrate!

The holiday collections of both Thanksgiving and Christmas books are on display in the Homeschool library and ready to be checked out! Since we only have 2 EXCEL days left before Thanksgiving and 1 EXCEL in December, I thought that some of you might want to get a head start on your holiday preparations for Homeschooling during this “Most Wonderful Time of the Year!”

In order to allow as many families as possible to use our limited holiday books, we are asking that you kindly check out only three holiday books at one time and encourage you to return them as soon as you are finished and check out three more!

Reminder: The Homeschool library is now open and available for browsing and check-outs during certain hours.. Additionally, if there is anything you see that you would like to check out, please send me an email and I would be happy to give it to your student on Friday at EXCEL.

Virtual Library

This year our Homeschool Library will look a little different. Dayton Christian’s Return to Community Plan states that there will be no visitors on campus without an appointment.

To make the many resources the Homeschool Library offers available to you, we will be moving to a Virtual Library!

How will you browse through our many options and curriculum resources available to you?
Just go to the “Library Search” page located at the top of the blog or click the button below. Once there, you will be able to search for specific books, peruse class subjects, or browse the entirety of DC Campus and Homeschool Libraries.
